Vitamin D
It never fails to amaze me the number of people who are low in Vitamin D. By spending 15 minutes a day in the sun we should absorb enough vitamin D. However some people just don’t absorb their Vitamin D whether because of using sunscreen as we should, or they are simply just not a Vitamin D absorber. The significance of having a Vitamin D level below 30 means your calcium doesn’t get absorbed. If calcium isn’t absorbed, your bones will get thin leading you to osteoporosis. Low Vitamin D has also been associated with joint and muscle aches, depression, and dementia. The next time you are in your Doctors’ office ask for a Vitamin D level to be checked. Unfortunately some Insurance companies don’t want to cover the cost of this, although it is an important health issue.
